Project Status I: Roofed laundry room

Work on the laundry facility has already begun and is progressing rapidly, as the need for a functional washing area is urgent. Currently, laundry for nearly 50 children still has to be washed mostly by hand and is then hung up all around the children's home. On rainy days, drying the laundry outside is not an option, requiring a lot of improvisation.

There is already an outdoor courtyard with brick walls, but until now, it was not covered and therefore could not be used as a laundry area. Thanks to the donations from our project, we are quickly addressing this issue and making long-term improvements. Once the roofing is completed, this space will house the washing machines - two machines were donated through people from our local network - and provide a better drying area for the laundry. The roof construction is currently underway. The roof tiles needed for the project were generously donated by a local tile manufacturer. Additionally, a new water storage tank has already been installed on the roof.

Next to the laundry facility, there will also be a covered veranda, which will serve as an additional workspace. There, rainwater collection containers will also be installed in the future, which can be used for cleaning shoes and other everyday items.
